Quote turnaround from 3 days to 15 minutes.
The situation
A US manufacturer of industrial mezzanines needed three days for every quote. Sales took the request, sent it to engineering, engineering hand-calculated the structural load and built a BOM in Excel, then everything bounced back to sales.
Rush quotes regularly went to competitors who could respond faster.
The blueprint
Across two days of structured remote sessions we mapped the actual quoting workflow - live screenshare with sales and engineering, plus recordings of the daily back-and-forth with external steel suppliers.
The real bottleneck wasn't the structural calculation. It was the handoffs between people.
The blueprint proposed a single web configurator with the structural logic built in, generating spec, BOM and CRM record in one pass.
The tool
Why a tool was the right answer: the bottleneck wasn't the calculation, it was the handoffs between three roles. A configurator collapsed those three roles into one workflow.
If the bottleneck had been in pricing logic or the sales process, we would have recommended a different fix.
The configurator itself runs in the browser: spec input (footprint, load, clearance), structural check against the client's beam catalog, BOM, 3D visualization and a complete quote pushed straight into the existing CRM. Salespeople with no engineering background can run it end to end in 15 minutes.
The result
Quote turnaround: three days to 15 minutes. Engineering time per quote: about four hours to under ten minutes.
Win rate on rush quotes measurably higher. A follow-up engagement for heavy-duty shelving is already in planning.
